Spire Spotlight | Resolving Dispute on The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center Project with Spire’s Support

The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center is a cutting-edge facility providing care to over 200,000 patients annually and serving as the state’s hub for cancer care. The project involved constructing a five-story, 200,000+ square-foot addition to the existing Outpatient Surgery and Imaging Service (OSIS) building, which included an imaging area, educational wing, and administrative wing.

Husch Blackwell engaged Spire Consulting Group on behalf of Flintco West, Inc., the general contractor, to assess the reasonableness of the University of New Mexico’s alleged damages for specific claims and to determine the maximum cost required to remediate subcontractors’ original project scope of work.

Spire’s detailed quantification of damages provided an objective assessment of the claims, which enabled Flintco West to negotiate a favorable settlement with the project owner.

As a result, the client paid 32% less in damages than originally assessed. Spire is proud to have been part of this successful dispute resolution effort.
