The $800 million MICA Generating Station Units 5 and 6 project, located on the Columbia River approximately 150 kilometers north of the City of Revelstoke, consisted of the installation of two 500-megawatt generating units. The units add approximately 1,000 megawatts of generation capacity, enough to power 80,000 homes in British Columbia during peak periods of demand. Unit 5 was in full operation in October 2014 and Unit 6 in October 2015.
Spire was hired by one of the main contractors tasked with the design, supply, and installation of the turbines and generators to prepare a request for equitable adjustment (REA) to substantiate issues and costs related to construction of Units 5 and 6 of the Mica Generating Station project.
Spire’s consultants analyzed the as-planned and as-built project schedules to develop a request for time extension and quantify damages.
