Associate Principal – Forensic Accountant

Position Summary

Spire is seeking forensic accounting professionals with experience in construction disputes and quantification of damages to assist with various construction consulting engagements as an Associate Principal. The position entails strategic thinking and a commitment to undertaking high-quality analyses with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Essential Functions

  • Quantify damages on complex construction-related claims.
  • Forensically analyze financial and accounting information from job cost reports, ledgers, and other sources.
  • Prepare forensic accounting and audit findings reports and presentations for expert witness testimony during mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
  • Provide expert witness testimony regarding matters related to financial and accounting issues.
  • Prepare demonstratives for communicating findings.
  • Perform industry and legal research.
  • Uphold the highest level of quality assurance/quality control in analyses and deliverables (consistency, formatting, fact-checking, etc.).
  • Effectively manage multiple engagements simultaneously.
  • Generate revenue through originating business and managing engagements to successful completion.
  • Support business development with the preparation of proposed scope, budgets, resource allocation, and work plans.
  • Provide engagement progress updates to clients.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Required

  • Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting, finance, or related discipline.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • 10-15 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years of experience performing dispute resolution support and forensic accounting services with a focus on the construction industry.
  • Experience with large-scale ($50 million plus) construction projects.

  • Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline.
  • Experience testifying as an expert witness.
  • 5+ years of experience performing construction management services.
  • Hold or be interested in acquiring other professional certifications within areas of expertise (CFF, CMA, CFE, etc.).
